Susannah is our Cafe Manager, heading up a team of 3 shift supervisors Becki, Emma & Andy and a large team of amazing volunteers. All staff and volunteers work very hard to keep and maintain the 5* Hygiene rating which was re-awarded in September 2018. If you would like more information about joining the team of volunteers please speak to any of the staff or ask for a volunteer application form in the cafe or by contacting the Cafe Office 0161 503 3612.
The Café is part of the Upper Room vision to be an outstanding resource for the community; a place where bridges are built between church and community, where people who don’t normally go to church can experience the life of the church community. For hundreds of years, coffee houses and cafés have been places where people have met to talk. A church which runs a café has a brilliant opportunity to offer faith based perspectives on life’s issues; to offer a place where people can discover how relevant Jesus’ life and teachings are today. The vision is to create a warm and welcoming environment where people can stay as long as they like, enjoying excellent service and top quality food and drink.
There is a collection point in the cafe for Chelwood Foodbank, please feel free to leave any donations.
We have recently added ‘Lending Library’ – the bookshelf is packed with Christian books which you are welcome to borrow and enjoy, please remember to return them so that others may also benefit.
The Cafe is a focal point for information about what goes on in church, we have flyers for our all our church groups, copies of the weekly Noticesheet are also available for you to read over a cuppa!
If you know of a group who would like to meet in the cafe please let us know, or if you would like to start a group just speak to cafe staff or contact the office and have a chat with Jon or Liz – 0161 428 8050.
