The PCC agreed in June 2025 to make a visible commitment to the A Rocha UK ECO CHURCH award Scheme. The ECO CHURCH survey is a self- assessment tool for churches to connect environmental issues with their Christian faith and mission, and respond with practical action in the church, people’s lives, and in the local and global community
This encompasses all areas of church life through the following 5 categories:
1) Worship and Teaching -embedding creation care in worship, prayer and learning.
2) Buildings and Energy – finding energy-efficient and innovative ways to manage our places of worship.
3) Land and Nature- Nurturing spaces for people and nature.
4) Community and Global Engagement- Transforming local and global communities and ecosystems.
5) Lifestyle – Living joyfully and sustainably as followers of Christ.
We recognise and teach that creation care and action to address the climate and nature crises are integral to Christian faith, life and worship.
To make a start with this we are looking at ways to make the church eco-friendlier for our church family and for the community, but also for the wildlife.
